Activist Picnic Networking
August 2nd, 2026
On Sunday, August 2nd, more than 20 Seattle-area progressive groups gathered in Woodland Park to reaffirm our commitments to safeguarding voting, protecting immigrants, defending civil rights, opposing political violence, fighting disinformation, and building an inclusive democracy. Each group brings different strengths, relationships, and skills; together, we build the power we need to protect our democracy and our communities.
Here are groups that tabled and/or spoke:
Fair Vote WA (Seattle Chapter). Promotes ranked choice voting; argues it boosts participation and coalition-building; notes Seattle RCV in 2027 primary.
Washington Physicians For Social Responsibility (WPSR). Health professional-led advocacy on nuclear weapons, economic inequity, and climate crisis.
Seattle Strike Coalition. Planning “mass economic non-participation” (strikes, boycotts, nonviolent civil disobedience) in response to potential election interference; seeking partners.
Defund Musk. Expanded from money-in-politics focus to supporting No Kings + Seattle Strike; runs rallies and “Pints and Postcards.”

The training will be held on Sept 12th from 1:30-4pm. Interested parties should register for the free training HERE.
Fix Democracy First. Money-in-politics reform; supports ranked-choice voting, democracy vouchers, and public funding. Fix Democracy First is circulating a Citizens Resolution about a novel legal pathway to make Citizens United irrelevant, and get corporate money out of Washington State's elections. Any Washington resident 16 or older can sign HERE.

West Seattle Indivisible (WSI). WA Attorney Genenearl Nick Brown to speak at WSI Community Meeting on Sunday, 19Aug. Offer Constitutional Observer trainings, which prepare people to observe, document, and report what they witness - centering the people being targeted by federal agents - in service of accountability, safety, and our shared democratic values.
Seattle Area Protest List. Calendar/guide to local rallies and demonstrations, updated weekly.
Resist Tech Monopolies. RTM promotes free and open source software options. They want to help people reduce what they pay big corporations and increase their privacy.
Going forward, we will seek out ways to partner, support one another with courage and non-violent discipline, and do together what we cannot do alone.
