Neighborhood Meetings Continue
Possible Guidelines for a 2nd Meeting
Purpose:
Add new members to your neighborhood group
Get to know each other and build trust and cohesion.
Keep everyone updated on what needs doing
Use Trump / Musk outrages to motivate action
Nourish hope & courage to share with others
Sit in a circle and start with a check-in:
Include your name, your main concern and what gives you hope. Allot 2-3 minutes per person.
Discuss these ideas on how our neighborhood group can help every individual find what is theirs to do:
Keep everyone updated on what needs doing (popcorn ideas from the group; 10 min.)
To defend the vulnerable & civic institutions
To contact leaders & media
To protest & resist
Use Trump / Musk outrages to motivate action (popcorn for 10 min.)
Which people and what institutions are threatened?
Who are the change agents - electeds, business, labor, education, media, faiths ...
How can we engage young people, families, elders, the poor ...
Nourish hope & courage to share with families, friend, others (popcorn for 10 min.)
Share humor, creativity & messaging
Share success stories
Next Consider:
How to share across all neighborhoods and within our neighborhood?
What to share? actions, messaging, humor, successes, hope & courage
Email, Google Group, Basecamp*
How to avoid information overload - perhaps one point person from NG to filter info so only 1-2 emails per day
Hold regular neighborhood group meeting - e.g. monthly
Summarize past months actions, messaging, humor, successes
Brainstorm how to engage change agents ... electeds, business, labor, education, media, faiths ...
Brainstorm how to engage young people, workers, families, elders, the poor ...
Identify one action that many may wish to pursue after the meeting
How to learn the stories & tell the stories of those that are harmed?
Volunteer in the community to learn the stories, then share the stories in the neighborhood group
Follow journalists that tell the stories
Share the stories anonymously with family, friends, others
Share the stories anonymously in letters to leaders & the media
Reconvene with Communities Rising at monthly All-Neighborhood Gathering
Come share your ideas at our monthly all-neighborhood gatherings.
